Short answer

Prepare records of ownership, token balances, transactions and support enquiries. For the first enquiry, a short case summary is enough to begin a conversation. Do not include passwords, 2FA codes, private keys or recovery phrases.

Start with a one-page summary

Include your country or company jurisdiction, the account type, assets involved, approximate amount and whether you can still access the account. List which original records you have and which are missing.

Describe previous assignments, pledges or ownership disputes. A buyer needs to know whether someone else may already have rights over the same assets or claim.

Preserve balances and transaction history

Keep quantities for each asset rather than only a single dollar total. Save the date of each statement and explain any valuation method used in your summary.

For deposits and withdrawals, keep transaction references, dates, networks and available TXIDs. Preserve the original exports. If using screenshots, retain the wider context and do not alter the underlying figures.

  • Account statements or balance exports
  • Deposit and withdrawal records
  • Trade history relevant to the balance
  • Support tickets and original emails
  • Applicable terms and notices

Document ownership and authority

The account holder and the person communicating with the buyer may not be the same. A company may need to show who can sign; an authorised representative may need to explain their authority. The appropriate evidence depends on the case.

Identity documents may be requested later through an agreed channel. They are not a substitute for proving the underlying amount or the right to transfer it. Avoid including unnecessary personal information in the first message.

Check whether the rights can be transferred

Section 9.2 of the published BitMart user agreement restricts user assignments of rights or licences under that agreement. This makes legal review of the relevant rights and applicable terms necessary.

Do not assume that every displayed balance is freely transferable, or that a standard contract used for another exchange fits your situation. Establish the correct counterparty, contract version and transfer requirements before agreeing to sell.

Use an organised, limited handover

Give files descriptive names with dates. Keep an index that explains what each record shows. If redacting irrelevant personal details, keep your original securely and tell the reviewer what was removed.

For the initial BitMart Return form, describe which records are available. The form does not ask for an identity-document upload or account credentials. A document request should have a stated purpose and an identified recipient.
